The Birth of SSTV Broadcasting
In 2014, this ability to bring a sporting event to life through words finally became a reality as TruHous Media embarked on what he thought was going to be a nice addition to the Sault Ste Marie and Algoma sports landscape. We decided to record a Guy Vetrie basketball championship game and then post the recording for people to watch and listen to later.
It wasn’t live on the air broadcasting, but it was a start; a start of something really big. This was the birth of SSTV Broadcasting, Broadcasting was always something I wanted to do. I started recording the broadcasts because I wanted to reconnect with sports. Up until 2014, since 2011 I had been the owner of Saultsports.com for three years. I was going to every home sporting event in Sault Ste Marie and Algoma, three seasons long. During that summer, Houslander realized he needed some help. Another set of eyes to aid in “painting the picture” to the audience would be a great addition. So, the natural thing to do was ask his younger son, Shaw Houslander to join the team.
So Houslander asked his son if he would like to join. The rest is history.
